This General Assembly session, our legislative agenda focuses on removing state and local barriers to housing production, investing in critical infrastructure to support new residential development, increasing transparency into local housing policies, and protecting critical residential economic development incentives.
The Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development (BHCD) has officially started the 2024 Code Development Cycle, a multi-year process to update Virginia’s Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC). The Code Development Cycle is the industry’s opportunity to shape Virginia’s next building code by submitting code change proposals, attending code hearings and providing public comment, and offering technical expertise to the Home Builders Association of Virginia’s (HBAV) advocacy team.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is accepting public comment on the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) proposal to establish the Wetland and Stream Replacement Fund (WSRF), a state-managed in-lieu fee program (ILF) designed to reduce permitting delays driven by recurring mitigation credit shortages around the state. The public comment period closes July 28 at 5 p.m. EDT.
