On April 17, Jim Tobin, president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders, spoke at the HBAV’s annual Leadership Luncheon. After sharing the national organization’s two-prong and interconnected mission to provide affordable housing for all and professional excellence among members, Tobin then addressed:
- A new strategic plan and its five pillars: NAHB as a federation, member professional success, advocacy, public perception and workforce development.
- Advocacy wins, including securing funding for workforce development initiatives and influencing regulations on energy efficiency standards for new homes.
- Industry challenges, including the continuing issues of labor shortages, supply chain delays, and regulatory burdens.
- Calls to action for lawmakers, as the industry must encourage them to prioritize housing affordability and streamline regulations that hinder homebuilding.
